so you think you can dance?

Participating as a dancer in MadiTHON is an amazing experience unlike any other! Heroes spend the duration of the event on their feet dancing for those who can't. Throughout the 12-hours heroes are encouraged to not only dance but enjoy live entertainment, play games, eat great food, meet new people and interact with miracle children and families who are directly impacted by the donations given to the hospital.

Being a hero does not only unite you with the other participants at MadiTHON but with all of those who participate in dance marathons across the country. You join hundreds of other students, as well as students around the nation, who dedicate themselves to fighting for the next generation. You become the catalyst for change in the world. You become the difference in a child’s life. You will stand alongside hundreds of other heroes for 12 hours and share an experience that will transform you.

Once you register to be a hero you'll have the opportunity to fundraise towards our goal of $100,000 in donations for the hospital. MadiTHON is a year-long effort to raise awareness and money for the UVA Children's hospital and doesn't have a start or an end date. We work hard to raise as much money as possible to help change the lives of the patients all year long. As a dancer we encourage you to attend the various fundraising events, promote your donor drive page to your friends and family.

What To Wear

  1. Exercise clothes! You'll be on your feet for 12 hours so make sure you're comfortable and ready to dance the day away!

  2. Comfortable shoes. Don't wear your brand new sneakers, even if they are purple and gold. You don't want to leave at the end of the day with blisters so be sure your shoes are comfortable and sturdy to last the whole day

  3. Wear socks!

  4. Feel free to bring a sweatshirt in case you get chilly, but you'll want to wear a T-shirt or tank top underneath.
